Texas State German Contest 2026

On February 28th, 2026, Texas State University will host the Texas State German Contest for the twelfth consecutive year. Over 750 middle and high school students, grades 8th-12th grade, who have qualified at one of three regional contests (Houstonfest, Sprachfest, or Winterfest), are invited to compete and show off their German language skills and cultural understanding at this annual event.

Texas State German faculty Dr. Ewa Siwak is the site coordinator for the contest. The rest of the German section and Texas State German students (including majors and minors) are volunteering to help out at this UIL-style event.
