We have several exciting events planned for this fall! Please see the information detailed below, which is also updated on our Canvas site. 

SPRING 2024 EVENTS

Event: Tertulias literarias con pizza  
Location: Pie Society - 700 N LBJ Dr Ste 107, San Marcos, TX 78666  
Dates and Times:  
1. Thursday, February 29 1:30-2:30   
Reading: “Lo secreto” de María Luisa Bombal 
2. Friday, April 5 12:00-1:00

Description:  
"La tertulia literaria es un espacio para el diálogo donde sus participantes comparten las opiniones, reflexiones y emociones que les evoca el texto leído, en un contexto de colaboración, respeto e igualdad."  
This is an opportunity to discuss important works of Spanish Literature in an informal and fun setting! We will meet for pizza, conversation, and reactions to a famous, controversial, and/or provocative short literary text from Spain or Latin America. 

Event: Fiesta de las flores – Kyle Public Library  
Location: Kyle Public Library - 550 Scott St, Kyle TX 78640  
Date and Time: Saturday, October 7 12:00-2:00  
Description: Students are invited to read a poem, perform a dance, or play a musical instrument (or a combination) in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Email Dr. Perkins – agperkins@txstate.edu – ASAP if you are interested in participating!

Event: Spring Initiation Ceremony 
Location: Centennial Hall, Room G02 at Texas State University  
Date: Friday, February 9  
Time: 5:00 - 6:00 PM  
Description: Current members are invited to participate in our spring initiation ceremony! Welcome our new members with refreshments and photos. All members are encouraged to attend and celebrate!

Event: Festival de Poesía 
Location:  Centennial Hall, Room G02 at Texas State University 
Date:  Thursday, April 11 
Time: 10:00 - 2:00 PM
Description: Join us in a day-long celebration of poetry! SDP members, students, faculty, and staff across campus are invited to read their favorite poems, be they original works or those of your favorite poets. The focus is Spanish-language poetry, but all languages are welcome.
